The last couple of weeks, I’ve been thinking about the saying, “March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.” It refers to the cold weather at the beginning of the month and the eventual warmer weather at the end of the month. I, however, politely disagree.
I can understand why this saying has been popular for many years. Sure, March is definitely colder at the beginning of the month and then warmer towards the end. But that’s not why I disagree with it.
My reasoning is for the fact that spring in New Mexico can be especially windy and make you feel as though the shingles will fly off your roof. If you’ve lived her for at least one spring, you’ve experienced the strong winds. Maybe this is where I think March is like a lion?
But did you know that wind can affect your ducting? The wind can get into your ducts through your HVAC system, especially in homes with swamp coolers. Homes with air conditioning can also have occasions where wind can get in and effect the ducts. If there’s any cracks or tears in your ducting system, dirt and dust can get into your ducts and be blown into your home.
Could There Be Something Wrong With Your Ducts?
What’s a sign that there might be a problem with your ducts? If you have a lot of dust on your furniture and have to dust more often, this be an indication that you need your ducts inspected.
Thankfully for our Albuquerque metro area neighbors, Albuquerque Plumbing Heating & Cooling has an amazing team of HVAC technicians who can perform a camera inspection on your ducts to check for leaks or tears. While performing the inspection, this will allow them to see what kind of material your ducts are made of.
There are plenty of times where the ducts don’t have any tears or leaks, but rather they’re just dirty. Our HVAC team can help clean ducts as well!
But what if there are leaks or tears in your ducting system? Depending on what material your ducts are made from, Albuquerque Plumbing Heating & Cooling can use a nifty product called Aeroseal to seal your ducts to help keep the dust and dirt out. On top of that, Aeroseal can help your home to be more energy efficient and keep you comfortable at the same time.
