Thanksgiving, that time of family and feasting and feeling good and giving thanks for the good things we have, is almost upon us. You have probably already bought your turkey and the makings of your pumpkin pie and are looking forward to gathering family and/or friends at the dining table to celebrate. But while you’re anticipating all that, here’s something else to think about: did you know that every day, more than 300,000 New Mexicans are at risk of going hungry? And that includes Thanksgiving Day!
Albuquerque Plumbing, Heating & Cooling wants to help the needy in our neighborhood. It is partnering with Roadrunner Food Bank to help more of us to have a happy holiday. Road Runner Food Bank feeds 70,000 New Mexicans every day, through donations that get distributed through a network of food pantries, soup kitchens and other direct service programs.
For every Albuquerque Plumbing customer who donates canned and other non-perishable foods to Road Runner between now and November 19, Albuquerque Plumbing will give that person a 50-cent discount off every item purchased. The way this works is, if you request a service call and a technician comes to your home or place of business, you can make your donation directly to that person; he or she will, in turn discount your invoice by the number of articles, up to $10.00.
Soooo—this might be an excellent time to schedule that furnace inspection or have that leaky plumbing fixture professionally dealt with. At the same time, you’ll help less fortunate New Mexicans celebrate America’s only national religious holiday with a full stomach!
