I don’t know about you, but I don’t know where I’d be without my two best friends. They have been there for me through thick and thin, college days, moving, the birth of my son, etc. You name it, they’ve been there for me. And even though I’ve given them plenty through the years to shake their heads about, they would drop everything to help me if I needed it.
When I was starting to write this blog, I kept hearing the song, “Best Friend,” by Harry Nilsson. If you’re scratching your head and wondering if you’ve heard this little tune, trust me that you have. If you haven’t, I’m more than positive that your parents have.
Another song that comes to mind when people think of with their friends is, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” by Randy Newman. Where have you heard this song? In the movie, “Toy Story.”
Where am I going with this? June 8th is National Best Friends Day. I personally think best friends should be celebrated more often, but for them to have their own day is pretty great and deserving too.
What If Your Friends Aren’t As Sentimental As You?
My best friends aren’t sentimental like I am. At least, not in the same way. One time I sent a card in the mail to my friend, and it was a sappy one. She texted me later and said something along the lines of, “Thanks for the card. It was sweet.” This is also the same friend who isn’t a hugger. And she’s friends with me…a hugger. But hey, opposites attract, right?
If you find yourself to be like me and you’re sentimental or mushy, you could put together a playlist for them. Have fun with it! Make it cheesy! Here’s some good ones to think about:
- “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers
- “That’s What Friends Are For” by Stevie Wonder
- “I’ll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts
- “You’re my best friend” by Queen
- “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler
- “Friends In Low Places” by Garth Brooks
- “I’ll Be There” by The Jackson 5
- “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” by Tracy Lawrence
- “Good Friend and a Glass of Wine” by LeAnn Rimes
So how are you going to celebrate this day with your best pal? Maybe take them out to dinner and/or drinks? To see a movie in theaters? Or maybe you could take dinner to them at their house. Whatever you do for them, they will appreciate it.
No matter what you call your friends – whether it’s amigo, buddy, chum, pal, compadre, comrade, or even mate (if you’re feeling fancy or British) – we’re sure you’re thankful to have them in your life. Not only are the team members with Albuquerque Plumbing Heating & Cooling part of a family, but we’re all friends too. We get on each other’s nerves, and we may bicker with each other too. But through all of that, we’re still there for each other and support each other every day. That’s what friends are for.
Oh! There’s another song title!
