May is here, which means a few things. Spring has arrived, school will soon be out for the summer, and Mother’s Day is just a few days away.
I remember when I was a little girl in art classes that the old reliable craft to make for our moms was a bouquet of “flowers” made from egg cartons and pipe cleaners. I’d happily present these to my mom every year, grinning from ear to ear with pride over the wonderful gift I made. She’d have a polite smile, kiss me and thank me for the “flowers.”
Now that I’m an adult, and a parent, I feel pretty sure that these egg carton flowers are in my future when my son goes to school. I’m also positive that I’ll give him the same sweet smile, thank him and give him a kiss for his handmade gift.
As a mother, I can tell you that any just about any gift you give your mom for this special day will be loved. It’s the thought that counts. So if you give her those egg carton flowers, or a real bouquet of roses, she’ll love it.
I usually buy gifts for my mom and my son’s other grandmother for Mother’s Day. The general theme of the gifts is my son, and I make sure whatever gift they receive has plenty of pictures of him. But then again, what grandmother will tell you that she doesn’t want pictures of her grandchildren? They can never have enough!
What Are You Doing For Mother’s Day?
What are you doing for the motherly figure in your life? I say motherly figure because they can come in any shape or form, whether it’s your mom, grandmother, aunt, cousin, stepmother, foster mother, adoptive mother…you get where I’m going with this. Are you getting them flowers, perfume or spending quality time with them? Remember, they will love whatever you get for them because it’s the thought that counts.
The team with Albuquerque Plumbing Heating & Cooling will be spending Mother’s Day with their motherly figures in one way or another. Now that our state is reopening more every day, I’m sure our team members will give their moms great big hugs in person. Whatever your plans are for Mother’s Day, enjoy the day and help your mom with the dishes. She’ll appreciate that too.
