What is your favorite book? Is it a children’s book, a comic book or a fiction novel? Did the author of your favorite book publish other stories, or even a series of tales with your favorite characters? I’ll bet dollars to donuts you’re picturing your favorite book right now. In fact, as I started writing this paragraph, I was picturing the cover of my favorite novel.
Ever since high school, I’ve been a fan of Thomas Harris. If you’re unfamiliar with his name, I can help give you an idea of what he’s written. He’s the author of, “The Silence of the Lambs.” While that’s an amazing novel, my favorite book he’s written (and my all-time favorite book) is, “Red Dragon.” It’s the first book in the Hannibal Lector series, and it sets the stage for the rest of the books.
Back in the earlier 2000’s, I was really into the HBO show, “True Blood.” I loved the show, and I was able to get my older brother and sister-in-law into the show too. When they realized that the show was based off the Sookie Stackhouse novels, they went into a frenzy and started buying the books and reading them feverishly. To this day, they insist that I read the books while noting that I would like them. The books are on my to-do list.
Fiction Is My Preference
Over the years, I’ve come to learn that I prefer to read fiction novels. I think it’s because there are plenty of times where I want to escape reality and be in a different place or time. It’s a break from the real world, and it allows me to use my imagination.
At the moment, I’m on a reading kick. I will read while I’m waiting for my son in the school pick up line, or if I’m at home and have the ability to stay awake and read. It gives me something to do and helps me to stay articulate. I’m currently reading two books: one a fiction novel in a series, and the other is about marketing.
November 1st is National Author’s Day, and it’s a day that’s easy to celebrate or participate in. Probably the easiest thing you can do is to pick up a book and start reading it. Maybe you pick up a book that you haven’t read in a while and start flipping through the pages again. Or even buy a new book to read.
Now, I will concede that this blog is being written just after National Author’s Day, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t still pick up a good book and read it. It could be one of the classics, a new bestseller or maybe an undiscovered gem. As long as it’s something you enjoy reading, it doesn’t matter what it is.
From Fantasy To Non-Fiction, Celebrate National Author’s Day With Us!
The team with Albuquerque Plumbing Heating & Cooling have their different genres that they prefer to read, such as fantasy, science fiction, biographies and more. If they can find the time in their busy personal and professional schedules, they might be able to hide away and read something they’ve been interested to check out. Maybe they read on their lunch breaks, while they’re in the school pick up line or after the kids have gone to bed. Whenever they’re able to find the time, it’s great to know that our team members celebrate National Author’s Day year-round.
